Celebrating the Builders Behind the Impact

Last night, the Legacy Builders community came together at Putt Social for an incredible evening of celebration, connection, and reflection as we hosted our 2026 Legacy Builders Impact Celebration.

The evening was an opportunity to recognize the people and organizations who have helped make Legacy Builders what it is today, while celebrating the impact we are creating together for students, educators, and the construction industry.

At its core, the night was about one thing: impact.

The impact we're making in classrooms. The impact we're having on our industry. And the impact we're creating together by changing the way young people view careers in construction.

Before looking ahead, we took time to recognize the partners who helped us get here.

A special thank you was shared with Melloul-Blamey Construction, our founding sponsor, for believing in this vision from the very beginning and supporting the program for the past seven years. Their leadership and commitment have been instrumental in helping Legacy Builders grow into the organization it is today.

We also recognized the support of Hewson Brothers Building Supply and the importance of employers who understand the value of workforce development and community investment. Their ongoing support has helped make it possible to continue expanding our reach and impact.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Legacy Builders Board Members Jeff Shantz, Jason Church, and Susan Carey, whose guidance, mentorship, and industry expertise continue to help shape the future of the organization.

We were proud to acknowledge Merit Ontario for their partnership and support as Legacy Builders transitioned into its own non-profit organization. Their commitment has helped provide the foundation needed to expand programming, resources, and opportunities for students.

Most importantly, we celebrated our volunteers.

Every classroom session is powered by industry professionals who generously share their time, knowledge, and experience with students. They are the heart of this program. Every time they step into a classroom, they help students discover opportunities they may never have known existed.

Because of the support of our volunteers, sponsors, and partners, Legacy Builders has now reached more than 6,000 students across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge over the past four years.

And we're just getting started.

For the 2026–2027 school year, Legacy Builders is already fully booked in both Halton and the Kitchener-Waterloo/Cambridge region, adding another 1,000 students to our impact next year alone. Growth is also underway in Woodstock, London, Hamilton, and Niagara as we continue expanding our reach across Ontario.

We're also advancing conversations at the provincial level as we work toward our vision of bringing Legacy Builders to students across the province.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and supported this mission, thank you.

Every classroom we visit and every student we inspire is possible because of people who believe in the future of our industry.

Together, we're helping students see that construction isn't a backup planβ€”it's a pathway to meaningful, rewarding careers that help build the communities we all call home.

Thank you for being part of the Legacy.
