Inspiring the Next Generation of Builders
Legacy Builders is an engaging, in-classroom education program that introduces Grade 8 students to the diverse and exciting career opportunities available in the construction industry. From hands-on skilled trades like carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, to professional roles in architecture, engineering, project management, law, and accounting—Legacy Builders opens young minds to what’s possible in construction today.
Led by passionate industry volunteers and powered by the Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) in partnership with the Business & Education Partnership of Waterloo Region, Legacy Builders connects students with real-world experiences, personal success stories, and interactive learning designed to inspire and inform.

For Teachers:
Legacy Builders is a ready-to-deliver, curriculum-aligned program that enhances your classroom experience with industry insight and career exposure. Each session is led by a trained construction professional and includes:
A personal success story about entering and growing in the industry
Interactive team activity called “Legacy Bidders”, simulating a day in construction
Q&A periods, career booklets, and take-home resources
Fun swag like Legacy Builders hats and hoodies for engagement and motivation
With monthly classroom visits and all materials provided, this program supports career exploration, experiential learning, and pathway planning.
For Parents:
We know how important it is for young people to explore meaningful career paths early. Legacy Builders introduces students to the modern, rewarding world of construction—an industry full of well-paying, in-demand careers.
Your child will:
Learn from real people in the industry who share inspiring stories
Explore over 20 career paths in both trades and professional roles
Receive a booklet with salary ranges, education options, and next steps
Participate in a team-based game that builds problem-solving and collaboration skills
Whether your child is curious about design, enjoys working with their hands, or is interested in business or technology, there’s something in construction for them.
For Volunteers:
As an instructor, you’ll make a meaningful difference in how students see construction—as a first-choice career, not a fallback.
Legacy Builders volunteers:
Share their career story and guidance with eager young minds
Lead students through a fun, structured team activity
Receive full training, program materials, and school coordination support
Represent GVCA, Trades for Tomorrow, and our industry with pride
Volunteers must complete a screening process and follow school and partnership guidelines to ensure a safe, respectful, and professional environment.
For Sponsors:
Your support helps build a stronger future workforce and shatter outdated stereotypes about construction. By sponsoring Legacy Builders, you:
Empower local youth with career knowledge and real-world inspiration
Support hands-on learning experiences and industry engagement
Help fund classroom resources like student booklets, hats, hoodies, and game materials
Align your brand with workforce development and education outreach
Together, we’re showing students that construction is innovative, safe, and full of opportunity.
Thank you to our Sponsors!
What does your sponsorship include?
Each classroom will consist of 25-30 students. Every student will receive a Legacy Builders ball cap and tool belt. Each student on the winning team of the board game will also receive a Legacy Builders hoodie.
All students will receive a Legacy Builders Career Tool Belt that includes a booklet that outlines various careers in construction, potential salaries, and links to schools, training facilities, or organizations that they can contact for education or apprenticeship requirements. If you decide to be a sponsor, that booklet will contain your company logo, plus your logo will be profiled on the Legacy Builders website.
This is your opportunity to get your brand in front of up to 120 households including parents, other family members and friends; not to mention that you will be encouraging the next generation to enter the trades.
