Susan Carey - Board Member

Susan Carey began her career in the healthcare industry, where she witnessed the profound and lasting effects that injuries have on individuals and their families. In 2020, she transitioned into the field of Health and Safety, motivated by a desire to take a proactive role in preventing workplace incidents rather than responding after harm had already occurred. This shift led her into the construction industry, where she discovered a strong sense of purpose in supporting safer worksites and stronger teams.

Susan’s commitment to giving back to the construction sector is reflected in her work to strengthen the workforce and champion greater inclusion. She actively encourages women to pursue careers in the skilled trades and proudly serves as the President-Elect of CAWIC, where she helps advance initiatives that elevate and support women in construction.

Her decision to join Legacy Builders aligns with her passion for positive industry change. Susan is particularly energized by the movement’s mission to dismantle outdated stigmas surrounding the trades and to highlight the meaningful, rewarding careers the industry offers. She is driven by the opportunity to help shape a more diverse, empowered, and future-ready workforce.
