From First Introduction to First Opportunity: Why Legacy Builders Is Partnering with Projekt Network
A student can leave a Legacy Builders classroom excited about a career in construction. But what happens next?
That question matters to us. Introducing Grade 8 students to the industry is an important first step, but a strong career pipeline needs more than one moment of inspiration. Young people also need ways to explore their interests, meet people in the industry, show what they can do, and find opportunities when they’re ready to take the next step.
That’s why we’re proud to be an Advocacy Partner with Projekt Network. We share a belief that construction careers grow through real connections between students, new tradespeople, experienced professionals, and employers.
Building a pipeline that continues beyond the classroom
At Legacy Builders, industry volunteers bring construction careers to life through classroom conversations and our hands-on project activity. Students discover that building a project involves far more than the roles they may already know. They see possibilities in the skilled trades, project management, engineering, safety, design, business, and more.
As those students get older, they need places to keep exploring. A school project, a co-op placement, a first summer job, or the work completed as an apprentice can all become part of their story. Projekt Network gives emerging tradespeople a place to build a profile, share examples of their work, add their skills and qualifications, and connect with construction companies and other tradespeople.
For someone starting out, that visibility can make a difference. You may not have years of experience or an extensive résumé, but you can show what you helped build, explain what you learned, and give credit to the people who worked alongside you. Employers can see the person and the work behind an application.
Opportunity grows through connection
Finding a first apprenticeship opportunity can be difficult when you’re still building your network. Projekt Network allows new tradespeople to follow companies, explore projects, discover job openings, and connect with potential employers. It also gives them a way to learn from the work others share and start conversations with experienced people who may offer guidance or mentorship. Those relationships take effort to build, but having a community focused on the trades gives them a place to begin.
Our partnership connects two stages of the same journey. Legacy Builders helps young people see a future for themselves in construction. Projekt Network can help them make connections and show their work as they move toward that future.
We encourage tradespeople, contractors, and construction companies to join Projekt Network and share what they’re building. Post an opportunity. Recognize an apprentice’s contribution. Make time for a conversation with someone new to the industry. Each of those actions helps turn early interest into a real path forward.
