Jeff Shantz - Board Chair

Jeff Shantz is a Partner and Vice President of Project Development at Melloul-Blamey Construction, bringing nearly 40 years of experience across site supervision, project management, and building design. Throughout his career, Jeff has been deeply involved in guiding complex commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects from concept through completion, combining proven construction practices with modern design and technology.

Jeff joined the Legacy Builders board to help advance an initiative the industry has been striving toward for decades—engaging students early and showing them that construction offers diverse, meaningful career pathways well beyond the traditional trades. He is passionate about ensuring young people understand the breadth of opportunities available, including roles in finance, design, management, engineering, and skilled trades, and that there are accessible pathways for students from all backgrounds to succeed in the industry.

What excites Jeff most about Legacy Builders is seeing students’ enthusiasm firsthand during hands-on sessions, where curiosity turns into genuine excitement about future possibilities. He believes early exposure empowers students to make informed, confident career choices and helps build a stronger, more inclusive future workforce.

Jeff is a Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal–certified Project Manager and has served as Past Chair of the Grand Valley Construction Association, a Council Member of the Canadian Construction Association’s General Contractors National Advisory Council, and currently sits on the Architectural Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee.
