Christina Rauchfleisz-Shantz - Founder/President
As a third-generation construction professional, you could say the industry has always been in my blood — but my path to it was anything but linear. I grew up surrounded by construction through my father and grandfather, yet I originally pursued a different direction, earning a degree in Psychology and Sociology. To help pay for university, I worked for my father during the summers at Melloul-Blamey Construction. After graduating and still unsure of my long-term direction, I returned to MB full-time “just for now”… and ended up finding my passion.
Over time, as I explored different departments, absorbed hands-on experience, and later completed an online Interior Design program, everything clicked. My appreciation for the industry deepened — not just for the work itself, but for the collaboration, the problem-solving, the creativity, and the incredible range of people it takes to build something meaningful. Construction became more than a job; it became the path I knew I belonged on.
Legacy Builders was born from that journey and from the realization that children aren’t always shown the full spectrum of opportunities available to them. When I was in school, the focus was almost entirely on book learning and university pathways. That model didn’t align with how I learned, and it certainly didn’t showcase the vibrant, diverse, and rewarding world of construction careers.
Legacy Builders is the program I wish I had in elementary school. It’s fully hands-on, immersive, and built to engage every kind of learner. Students don’t just listen — they participate. They dive into real tender takeoffs, price out work, learn to read drawings, and understand how each trade contributes to the bigger picture. They get an authentic experience of what it takes to bring a construction project to life.
I truly believe there is a place for everyone in construction — the artistic, the technical, the analytical, the hands-on, the leaders, and the problem-solvers. Our industry thrives because of its diversity of talent and its reliance on teamwork. Through Legacy Builders, my goal is to ignite curiosity, open doors, and inspire the next generation to see construction as the incredible, fulfilling, and dynamic field that it is.
